My current research project is part of the Sonderforschungsbereich 382: Verfahren und Algorithmen zur Simulation physikalischer Prozesse auf Höchstleistungsrechnern, that deals with the simulation and visualization of physical processes on supercomputers. My work is part of the subproject D8: Visualisierung auf Cluster-Computern. The goal of this project is to interactively visualize large, time-dependent volume or vector data sets with the help of GPU-based cluster computers.

Another research project deals with Graphics-Hardware-based Raycasting of volumetric data sets utilizing Shader Model 3.0 functionality of recent GPUs. Further details on GPU-Raycasting, the accompaning paper as well as executables and the complete source code are available here.

My latest project was doing research and development for an OpenGL GLSL Shader Debugger. The goal is to enable debugging of hardware-generated data throughout the complete shader pipeline, including vertex, geometry, and fragment shaders. More information on this project can be found on the glsldevil webpage.

These are some sample images taken during development and at the current state of
the GPU-Raycasting framework. More images can be found at the project site.
The following images were rendered using an extension based on the Kubelka-Munk
theory to include effects of spectral volume rendering in our GPU-Raycasting framework.
