Famous Scientist visiting VISUS

Prof. Charles Hansen staying in Stuttgart for two months

Prof. Charles Hansen, also known as Chuck Hansen, is a renowned scientist in the field of scientific visualization and computer graphics. From May to June he is staying at the Visualization Research Center of the University of Stuttgart (VISUS) to get an overview about the current visualization research in Stuttgart. His aim is to develop new cooperation between the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute (SCI Institute) at the University of Utah and VISUS.

Chuck Hansen studied Applied Computer Science at the Memphis State University and was awarded his PhD in 1987 at the University of Utah in Computer Science with his thesis "CAGD-based computer vision." Subsequently he has worked as scientist at various universities and research centers in the United States and France. He is closely connected with the University of Utah, where he is working now as professor of computer science and Associate Director of the SCI Institute. His research work focuses scientific visualization, rendering techniques, computer graphics, parallel algorithms, distributed computing and 3D representations.

We are pleased that he is a guest of our institute.
