Hauptseminar "Large Scale Visualization"
Semester: SS 2015
Umfang: 2HS
Dozent: Prof. Dr. Daniel Weiskopf
Beschreibung:

The recorded, measured, and simulated amounts of data is still growing due to the progress in hardware and software technologies. Such data typically comes from various heterogeneous sources demanding for an efficient data storage and processing. From the wealth of data, we can extract and derive relations, patterns, insights, and finally, knowledge. This phenomenon can be found in nearly every field in our everyday life, such as marketing research (online advertisement), the finance sector, medicine, astronomy, and scientific simulations, but also telecommunication, and the complete area of social networking.
There are various challenges and techniques for data visualization with the goal to interact with the data and to analyze it in a meaningful and efficient way. To reach this goal, analysts make typically use of large clusters and specific displays.
We will discuss the state of the art in large-scale visualization. To this end, we will search and review latest publications on the topic. All texts will be written in English; working language for the seminar is English if requested by the participants, or German otherwise.

Themen: Die Themen für dieses Seminar stehen noch nicht fest.
Termine: Donnerstag, 14:00 - 15:30 Uhr in 00.012 (VISUS)
