Visualization Research Center (VISUS), Allmandring 19, 70569 Stuttgart, Germany | 1—7 pm

The University of Stuttgart's Science Day takes place on June 25, 2022. Together with the SFB 1313 "Interface-Driven Multi-Field Processes in Porous Media – Flow, Transport and Deformation" and the SFB-TRR 161 "Quantitative Methods for Visual Computing", the  Visualization Research Center (VISUS) will give insights into the world of visualization research. Visitors are invited to discover how visualizations can help to extract the relevant information from data and how they make visible what would otherwise remain hidden.

Location: Visualization Research Center (VISUS), Allmandring 19, 70569 Stuttgart, Germany

The Program at VISUS

LEGO Robot Table

For young visitors who want to discover the world of programming, two LEGO robot tables will provide the opportunity to become a robot expert. . The pre-built LEGO robots are equipped with a motor and are programmed via an app and a tablet. Visitors can either steer them through an obstacle course or have them paint an individual work of art by adjusting various parameters.

Mixed Reality - Digital Images in virtual Space
How can we view visualizations in virtual space, see them from all sides or walk past them? Mixed reality technologies offer us the possibility to do so.

Our Eyes as a Gamepad

Eye-tracking captures our eye movements and makes it possible to further develop visualizations or make software more intuitive. It can even be used to control computer programs and games.

Digitalized Working Environments

At the touch table of the SFB-TRR 161, visitors can interactively experience what virtual and mixed reality applications will be used for in working environments of the future. The touch table was also part of the exhibition aboard the MS Wissenschaft in 2018.

The World of Porous Media

SFB 1313 will also be presenting itself and the world of porous media. What do sponges, asphalt, soil, fuel cells, plants or even bones have in common? They are all so-called porous media. Discover their different structures under the microscope and test your knowledge in a quiz!
