Awards of members of the Computer Vision Group

2024 ECCV Outstanding Area Chair Award

At the 2024 European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV), in Milan, Italy, an Outstanding Area Chair Award was awarded to Andrés Bruhn for his efforts in overseeing and coordinating the review process in his area of research (optical flow, stereo, scene flow, data sets and benchmarks). In total, only 12 out of 469 area chairs were selected for this honor (2,6%).

2023 ICVSS Best Presentation Prize

At the International Computer Vision Summer School 2023 (ICVSS) in Sicily, Italy, Jenny Schmalfuss was awarded a best presentation prize for her work on adversarial weather for motion estimation. The corresponding paper was published shorftly after the summer school at the International Conference on Computer Vision (ICCV)

In total, three presentations prizes were award at the summer school which accepted 170 out of 614 applications.

2022 ECCV Robust Vision Challenge Award

At the ECCV 2022 Robust Vision Challenge, Azin Jahedi, Maximilian Luz, Marc Rivinius, Lukas Mehl and Andrés Bruhn have been awarded the prize for the winner in the category optical flow for the algorithm published in

2008 ERCIM Cor Baayen Award Finalist

Andrés Bruhn was nominated for his Ph.D. thesis as one of two national finalists for the Cor Baayen Award of the European Research Consortium for Informatics (ERCIM). This award is given each year to the most promising your researcher in computer science and mathematics in Europe.

2008 Busy Beaver Teaching Award

The 2008 Summer Term Teaching Prize in Computer Science at Saarland University has been awarded to Andrés Bruhn for his lectures on Correspondence Problems in Computer Vision.

2008 ECCV Outstanding Reviewer Award

At the 2008 European Conference on Computer Vision (ECCV) an outstanding reviewer award was awarded to Andrés Bruhn for his work as programme committee member.

2007 Dr. Eduard Martin Prize

The 2006 Dr. Eduard Martin Prize for outstanding scientific contributions during his Ph.D. thesis at Saarland University was awarded to Andrés Bruhn.

2007 GI Dissertation Award

At the 2007 Annual Meeting of the German Computer Society (GI), the GI Dissertation Award for the best Ph.D. thesis in computer science in 2006 was awarded to Andrés Bruhn for his thesis

Variational Optic Flow Computation: Accurate Modelling and Efficient Numerics.

The prize is given by the German Computer Society (GI), the Swiss Computer Society (SI), the Austrian Computer Society (OCG) and the German Chapter of the ACM (GChACM). It constitutes the highest award for a Ph.D. thesis in computer science in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

2006 Olympus Prize

At the 2006 Annual Symposium of the German Pattern Recognition Society (DAGM), the Olympus Prize (later renamed to German Pattern Recognition Award) was awarded to Andrés Bruhn for his outstanding work in the field of pattern recognition and image understanding. This prize constitutes the highest award given by the DAGM.
