Lebenslauf
Albrecht Schmidt studierte Informatik in Ulm und Manchester und forschte anschließend an der Universität Karlsruhe und an der Lancaster University, wo er 2003 seine Promotion über das Thema „Ubiquitous Computing – Computing in Context“ abschloss. Von 2004 bis 2006 war er als Leiter der von der DFG geförderten Nachwuchsforschungsgruppe „Eingebettete Interaktion“ an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in München tätig. Anschließend wurde er Professor für praktische Informatik/Medieninformatik an der Universität Bonn und Abteilungsleiter beim Fraunhofer Institut für Intelligente Informations- und Analysesysteme (IAIS). Von Oktober 2007 bis Dezember 2010 war er Professor für Pervasive Computing an der Universität Duisburg-Essen.
Seit Dezember 2010 leitet er als Professor am Institut für Visualisierung und Interaktive Systeme die Arbeitsgruppe Mensch-Computer-Interaktion. Seine Lehr- und Forschungsinteressen liegen im Bereich Pervasive Computing und er interessiert sich insbesondere für User Interface Engineering und mobile und eingebettete Interaktion.
