Romina Kettner holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the Ruhr-Universität Bochum and a Master's degree in Applied Cognitive and Media Sciences from the University of Duisburg-Essen. In 2016, she started her PhD in the HCI group at the University of Stuttgart as a research associate.

After working on the motionEAP project centered on augmented reality involving cognitive assistance systems, she focuses on contemporary research challenges related to affective computing and affective user interfaces as well as the amplification of human senses as part of the Amplify project supported by the ERC.
Particularly, she is looking into ways how to sense stress and emotions using physiological measures such as eletrodermal activity, heart rate, and electromyography.
Further, she is interested in gamification in the scope of user experience challenges.
